New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo reported Tuesday that another 481 deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours, a slight increase from the last day, bringing the total number of deaths to 14,828. As he explained at a press conference, 478 deaths were recorded on Monday compared to the previous day.
However, Cuomo noted that the rest of the “measures that reflect the expansion of the coronavirus” continue to show a slowdown in expansion and infections. The number of people hospitalized continues to decline for the eighth consecutive day, and the number of new admissions has also fallen to a minimum in the last three weeks.
Intubated patients now number about 4,000, a drop of 127 people in a single day. The New York governor, who is scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump at the White House Tuesday, said he plans to ask the president for more COVID-19 test kits in the state.
