The thoroughbred Ocean Bay, one of the great champions of Creole turf, disappeared on Sunday night from his stable at La Alegria stud farm. This Monday, part of his remains were found, dismembered to be eaten.
Some months ago his mother, Stellar Babe, was also dismembered to be eaten. And on Sunday another mare, Alquila, met the same fate.
The indignation ran like wildfire among horse racing lovers and in part of society, which was scandalized by events that have been happening for a long time.
The collapse of the revolution has already led to cases similar to Ocean Bay in 2018, but until now they had not affected the big stars of the turf industry. Several specimens destined for the Central University of Venezuela in Maracay disappeared from its facilities and their remains were later found, already dismembered.
