Former U.S. President during Barack Obama’s tenure, Joe Biden, has run for the Democratic Party in the 2020 presidential election.
So far, 19 candidates have confirmed their candidacy. One of them will face current President Donald Trump.
The 76-year-old former senator will announce his candidacy for the Democratic primaries on Thursday, a possibility that the polls had been taking for granted for months. Biden has already stood unsuccessfully on two occasions, but in 2016 he chose not to compete against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Biden was charged just a month ago with misconduct with some women. Lucy Flores, an activist and former Nevada state legislator, says that in 2014, Joe Biden “grabbed her shoulder, smelled her hair and kissed her on the back of her neck”. The former vice president has replied by saying that he doesn’t remember anything, but that he did it in public and with no intention of disturbing her.
