When a New Zealand family booked an apartment in Ireland they didn’t expect to find what they discovered.
They booked accommodation in Cork on a well known holiday rental site. Once there, they connected to the wifi of the house.
The father, an expert in security, realized that there was a spy camera when he went to verify the status and features of the wireless network.
Using an application, he scanned the wifi network and found a vulnerability. Subsequently, they searched the camera at the apartment and saw that it was on a part of the roof and was similar to a fire alarm or smoke detector.
According to the family’s wife on Facebook, they contacted the owner and the company to ask for explanations. They told them that they would take action but a month later the announcement continued on the web, according to the family. Now it has been withdrawn.
