Marques Brownlee, aka ‘MKBHD’, is one of the most relevant youtubers on the planet when it comes to technology reviews, with more than ten million followers. One of his latest videos has gone viral when he discovered the ‘mystery’ of the Escobar Fold 2 smartphone: this mobile phone, which has become so popular, is a scam.
Of course, the phone has caused quite a stir – as did its predecessor, the Escobar Fold 1, which was introduced in December 2019 -: it bears the name of one of the biggest drug traffickers ever and, in fact, belongs to a supposed company run by Pablo’s own biological brother.
The second version of this folding, theoretically high-end for a price of $399, arrived a month ago. Although the images of the launch already made one suspect that the Escobar Fold 2 was nothing more than a replica of the Samsung folding smartphone, nobody had yet really confirmed it. Until now.

In the video, the tech youtuber claims that he bought the first version of the smartphone last year, but never received it, making him suspect that it was all a scam.
Later -and without having yet received the model 1 he had paid for- he saw a second terminal arriving on the market and his alarms went off.
Although at first he rejected an offer that came by email to receive the Escobar Fold 2 and make a review, finally -seeing the interest it aroused- he bought online in the official website the new folding smartphone. And, again, it was never received.
Having no news about his order, he decided to report the situation on his Twitter account. By coincidence, shortly after tweeting that complaint, he claims to have received the terminal and made this video:
