Racing games have a surprisingly niche market. While there are a lot of racing games available, they don’t tend to get the same amount of marketing or player base as RPGs like Fallout, GTA, and Skyrim. However, this doesn’t mean that they’re bad in any way. Most people who love reading websites like blacksmokemedia.com, as well as those who have a mild interest in cars, would enjoy them if they gave them a go. If you’re tempted to load up your Xbox or PlayStation, consider giving one of the following a try.

Forza Motorsport 6

The Forza franchise has some of the best racing games you’ll find on the Xbox. Being exclusive to this console, it won’t be possible for everyone to obtain it, but it’s well worth it if you can. Forza Motorsport 6 is about as realistic as you would expect from a racing game. You can race on many of the most well-known tracks in the world in a variety of well-known racing cars. Plus, the difficulty settings in the game are based on how well other people drive, not an AI, which is revolutionary. With Forza Motorsport 7 now out, it’s possible to pick up this game and its DLC on the cheap. Forza 5 was recently a Games with Gold title, so it’s likely that this may also go the same way.

Project Cars

If you enjoy customizing your car, Project Cars is the game for you. In this game, customization is everything and you can change everything from the cars themselves to the mapping and sensitivity of the controls, and even the weather on the race tracks. Some drivers race better in rainy conditions, and Project Cars gives you the ability to see if you’re the same. On top of that, the graphics are beautiful. It may not be as well-known as the Forza franchise, but for those who have racing fantasies, you’ll find plenty to enjoy. You can also give go-karts and consumer cars a try!

Dirt Rally

If you’ve got an aversion to normal road paving, and much prefer to drive a 4×4 in the dirt, Dirt Rally is right up your alley. The game has received tons of praise from both the gaming and driving industries and is also compatible with the Oculus Rift, which is fantastic news for those who want to experience virtual reality. Pitch yourself headfirst down a Finnish mountain, or take a leisurely stroll around the tracks – the choice is yours. One thing’s for sure – after playing Dirt Rally for a time, you’ll want to head straight out to try it yourself in the real world!

If you don’t yet have a gaming console, it’s worth noting that some of the top games in the genre can also be played on PC. However, those who have consoles will be spoilt for choice. Can you think of any others to add to this list? Let us know in the comments.
