The physical edition will include the base game and all its downloads, including the upcoming Aftermath expansion.
Players who have not yet added Mortal Kombat 11 to their game list will be able to do so with the physical Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection edition coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 16th. However, Nintendo Switch users will be able to get hold of this physical edition of Mortal Kombat 11 with its additional content and the forthcoming Aftermath expansion included as standard, but – although it will be sold in a single pack – the game card will include the base content and the additional content will be downloadable via download codes included in the box.
The new physical edition of the game will be released on June 16th under the title Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection. It will include all the content that has come into the game so far in addition to the content associated with the recently announced Aftermath expansion.
However, in the game card, as confirmed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the game card strictly includes the base game. All other content is downloaded to the console memory using download codes, which will be included in the box. It is not known if the PS4 and Xbox One disc editions will have this limitation, but it is expected that given the size of the game and the storage capacity of the Blu-ray this will not happen and everything will come without requiring additional downloads (beyond the patches that will undoubtedly come).
Aftermath will expand the story mode of the fighting game with a new option that maintains the cinematic style of the original game plot. Here we will see a new story “focused on trust and deception,” the company says in the press release.
