If you sent messages via WhatsApp during the first seconds of this 2018, congratulations, you have contributed for WhatsApp to position itself as the most used instant messaging service in the West.
Today the company of Mark Zuckerberg has gone out to announce a new milestone within its famous messaging service, since during the New Year’s Eve more than 75,000 million messages were sent within WhatsApp, surpassing its own record achieved last year on the same eve of the new year when 63,000 million messages were sent.
2017 was a great year for WhatsApp, which now under the arm of Facebook has managed to implement interesting services to keep its users happy. This has allowed more and more people to have a kind of dependence on the application, since most of their friends and family are there, so it would be very difficult to change to another platform.
Among the 75,000 million messages sent, 13,000 million images and 5,000 million videos are included. Its managers confirmed that they closed 2017 with just over 300 million active users per day, and 1.300 million active users per month.

It should be noted that this new record was imposed despite the fact that the platform had several falls during certain moments where activity increased. Such is the case of interruptions in Western Europe, Mumbai, London and New York, where there were users who were disconnected for up to two hours.
The company also highlights that although it suspended the service for the Blackberry OS and Windows Phone platforms, the overall activity of its users was not affected.
