We already have a new trailer for ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’, scheduled for release in February 2020. The film has been directed by the debutant Jeff Fowler and counts, as an indisputable casting success, a perfect Jim Carrey to give life to the villain of the franchise, the inexhaustible Dr. Robotnik, full of trinkets with which to try to catch the fastest hedgehog in the world, which here has alien origin.
This time the look is closer to the original (which, on the other hand, doesn’t have an “official” look: from Megadrive’s fat Sonic to the very stylish Dreamcast times, something that was exploited in the great ‘Sonic Generations’), but still retains some of the uncomfortable realism of the first trailer. What this new video does have is much more action, the presence of Jim Carrey and a glimpse of the original world of Sonic, which pays tribute to classic video games, with their loops and semi-alien vegetation.
This new trailer for ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ comes after the radical rejection of Sonic’s appearance in the first trailers presented of the film, in April of this year. The physics of this renewed Sonic, spectacularly realistic and somewhat grim, did not like the fans, who claimed a look for the hedgehog more in keeping with its origins, close to cartoons. Paramount took note and postponed the release date to February 14, 2020 in order to adjust the look of this Sonic.
