At Insomniac Games you can be happy. Marvel’s Spider-Man is the best-selling superhero video game ever.
The data can be read in NPD Group’s June sales report. According to Mat Piscatella, NPD Group analyst, Marvel’s Spider-Man has become the best-selling superhero video game in history. That place was occupied until now by Batman: Arkham City. Marvel’s Spider-Man debuted on September 4, 2018 and did so exclusively for Sony’s PlayStation 4. Already at that time it was considered by most amateurs and industry professionals to be Spiderman’s best interactive adventure to date.
Its exclusivity for PS4 seems to be maintained as well. Last year, Insomniac managers were asked about when the Xbox version of the game could arrive and the answer was “Never”. The exclusivity of Marvel’s Spider-Man has reasons beyond video games and points to movies.
Marvel’s Spider-Man came out in two editions. The Digital Deluxe included a copy of the title, as well as new chapters around the series The City That Never Sleeps. The Collector edition carried all the digital content from the Digital Deluxe edition, as well as a steelbook sleeve featuring the legendary white spider, a small Titan Books illustration book and a magnificent statue of Marvel’s Spider-Man created by Gentle Giant.
