Disco Elysium was one of the great sensations of last year, without a doubt, and if someone was unable to play it because they had a computer that was too old, there is good news: the people in charge have insisted that the game can be played on any machine, no matter how old it is.
The result of this effort is the update you just received. Thanks to it, many players will be able to try this particular detective RPG for the first time, while those who already had a copy have the opportunity to enjoy a more fluid experience.
So these are the new minimum requirements for both Windows and Mac:
Windows minimum requirements
- Operating System: Windows 7/8/10
- Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
- Memory: 2GB RAM
- Graphics card: integrated or dedicated with a minimum of 512MB of memory
Before this update, an Intel i5-7500 processor or AMD 1500 or equivalent, 4GB of RAM and an Intel HD620 graphics card or equivalent were required, so the drop in demand is remarkable.
On the other hand, these are the new minimums for playing on MacOS:
- Mid-2009 MacBook Pro
- MacBook Air mid-2012
- iMac end of 2009
- Mac Pro end of 2008
- Mac mini 2009
The study says that for now these are the oldest machines they’ve tried it on and they can’t be 100% sure that the game works in all its configurations, but they’ve lowered it as much as possible so that there are no problems.
If with all this you still stay outside Disco Elysium do not worry, there is still hope. The study has confirmed that they will continue to work in this direction to further reduce the requirements and that the game can be run even on a crappy calculator if necessary without sacrificing too much of the experience.
