The new issue of Call of Duty will be available on October 25. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare arrives for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with a unified narrative experience, multiplayer mode and cooperative mode. Activision says it’s a “re-imagined experience created from scratch,” inspired by today’s wars.
There was excitement in the Call of Duty community and the trailer for the new installment is already a real success on YouTube. It was published last May 30 and in just six days has more than 27 million views. The video accumulates more than 448,000 ‘I Like’ and just 15,000 ‘I Don’t Like’.
Dave Stohl, head of studio at Infinity Ward, the game’s developer, says that “it’s completely new, revived in every way. Thus, it will lead players into a current conflict, in which the decisions of a fraction of a second could affect the global balance. It is inspired by Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the title of the saga released in 2007. Stohl says they’re creating an “emotional experience inspired by the headlines of today’s world”. He explains that players will join a diverse group of international special forces and rebel groups in search of freedom in a series of missions in iconic European cities and the Middle East.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will have cross-game functionality. According to Patrick Kelly, Creative Director and Head of Studio at Infinity Ward, this allows one console player to play with another who has the computer game and vice versa. The PC version is developed in collaboration with Beenox, and will be available exclusively on Blizzard Battle.net. They eliminate the traditional season pass, allowing them to offer more maps and free content, and new events for all players after the game’s release.
Fans can now reserve the digital version of the game and receive a token for immediate use in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
