The company announced Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, a title that will take us back to the Cold War. This is a kind of ‘reboot’ that promises to return to the origins of the successful Black Ops saga. Treyarch and Raven Software are the studios responsible for the development.
The first preview, besides confirming the setting, shows us some scenes that took place during the Cold War. Don’t expect to see gameplay, as this material confirms the date of world revelation: August 26th. So, we will have to wait until the date indicated to know the rest of the details of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Even more interesting, the presentation will take place in Call of Duty: Warzone, the successful battle royale that has not stopped breaking records since its release.
Activision had already hinted that they would use the popularity of Call of Duty: Warzone to showcase the new game inside Verdansk. The Battle Royale has brought about a change in the franchise’s marketing strategy. It currently boasts over 75 million players, an impressive figure considering it was only launched last March.
Beyond its ad strategy, Activision also plans to integrate Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War into Call of Duty: Warzone. However, we don’t yet know how this will be done – will the map of Verdansk change, will we have access to a second map set in the Cold War? We’ll probably know in the next few weeks. The game doesn’t have a launch date yet.
