WhatsApp version 2.19.82, sent to Google Play betas program, hides inside the expected dark mode, according to the publication WABetaInfo.
The function, not yet available to all users, completely alters the aesthetics of the application, transforming the light tones of the current ‘app’ into dark colours. In addition to offering a different aesthetic, this mode helps to improve the autonomy of OLED display devices and facilitates reading in dark environments.
The beta version of WhatsApp also includes a redesigned settings section and a slight aesthetic change that affects the way audio files sent through the ‘app’ are displayed.
The date that dark mode for WhatsApp will be available is a mystery. WABetaInfo states that the feature still requires a lot of development, so it is unlikely that the release will be imminent.
