2019 is coming to an end. The end of a decade. What will the new 20s hold for us to discover? If possible, even more technology for sure. Perhaps devices and services hitherto unimaginable.
While we imagine all that is to come, what we can know is what has actually happened in the last ten years and who the winners have been. Now let’s talk about smartphone platforms and applications.
App Annie has launched a ranking of the ten most downloaded applications worldwide between 2010 and 2019 -this year only until November-. They clarify that the data is limited to iOS and Android since January 2012. Until December 31, 2011, the information comes only from Apple’s App Store.
Of course, Facebook and its ‘three musketeers’ are in the lead: the blue social network, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram are the most downloaded apps of the decade. Snapchat completes the Top 5 followed by Skype, the Chinese TikTok and UC Browser -web browser of the Alibaba group-, Google’s YouTube and finally Twitter, the last one in the Top 10.
