WhatsApp has introduced its new catalog feature. Catalogs are a kind of mobile store where companies can display and share their products so that people can easily explore and discover what they want to buy, without leaving the application.

Customers can view the entire catalog directly from WhatsApp. In this way, business owners can present a more professional image. The idea is for customers to become interested in the chat without having to visit a website. Previously, companies had to send product photos one at a time and provide the same information over and over again.

Companies, Facebook tells on its blog, can add information about each of the articles in their catalogs, such as price, description and product code. To enable companies and their customers to save storage space, WhatsApp hosts the catalogs on its servers.

The company tested this feature with Agradaya, a sustainable Indonesian spice and herb company. His manager says that thanks to these catalogues his customer service had improved significantly.

The catalog function is now available for companies using the WhatsApp Business application on both Android and iPhone in Brazil, Germany, India, Indonesia, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It will soon be implemented in the rest of the world.
