The WhatsApp instant messaging app is working on a new feature that would introduce automatic deletion of messages in group conversations after the set time. Disappearance of messages’ is an option that has appeared in WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.19.275.
The company is working on this ‘message self-destruction’ feature, so it is not yet widely available. The option, present in the Group Settings, allows you to set a time -five seconds or an hour- after which messages would automatically disappear. After this time, any message in that conversation would disappear, leaving no trace, unlike messages manually deleted by users.
This function is in the alpha phase, in its early stages of development, and the company has introduced it in the test program to identify and correct possible faults before their arrival in future service updates.
